The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, is to launch the National Petrochemical Alliance Conference on May 8, Amwal Al Ghad reported.
The conference will be organized by the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (Epri) and will witness the launching of the National Alliance for knowledge and technology in the field of petrochemicals. The initiative aims to exploit plastic waster recycling as an economic resource.
The alliance will have a total budget of EGP 17 million which will be provided by Epri, according to the institute’s head, Ahmed El Sabagh.
The initiative will be comprised of several scientific and industrial institutions in Egypt and abroad, under the leadership of Epri.
Participating institutions include the Plastic Technology Center at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Center of Scientific and Technological Excellence in the Ministry of Military Production, Al Azhar University and Canada’s University of Sherbrooke.
