El Molla Takes Center Stage at 12th Arab Energy Conference’s Ministerial Panel

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has participated in the first ministerial panel of the Twelfth Arab Energy Conference, which was organized by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) in Qatar.

The panel was held under the title “International Developments in Energy Markets and their Implications for the Arab Energy Sector” and included a working paper in this context presented by Bassam Fattouh, Director General of Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES), on the importance of increasing the ability of the oil and gas industry to withstand successive challenges.

The session was moderated by Jamal Issa Al-Loughani, Secretary General of OAPEC, and panelists included Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatari Minister of Energy; Mohammed Aoun, Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas; Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC); and Mohamed Hamel, Secretary General, Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

During the session, El Molla reiterated that there is consensus on the necessity of the energy transition as well as the importance of developing oil and gas resources through improving extraction and management methods. The minister also emphasized the importance of accelerating and supporting efforts to reduce emissions, capture and store carbon, as well as foster technological progress.
