El Molla, Snam CEO Discuss Cooperation in Oil, Gas Trading

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has discussed with Stefano Venier, CEO of the Italian company Snam, along with the Italian Ambassador to Cairo, Michele Quaroni, and the accompanying delegation, opportunities and areas of cooperation in oil and gas.

During the meeting held on the second day of Egypt Energy Show EGYPES, El Molla highlighted Snam’s expertise in the implementation and management of natural gas infrastructure in Italy and the European continent. He also emphasized the potential for the company to play a significant role in cooperation with Egypt in exporting and receiving gas from the Eastern Mediterranean region.

El Molla also noted the flexibility of the petroleum industry in facing challenges, citing the increase in international companies investing in Egypt and their efforts in research, exploration, and oil and gas production activities.

Venier expressed his gratitude to Egypt for organizing the important conference and stressed the importance of utilizing Egypt’s pivotal location for re-exporting gas from the Eastern Mediterranean region. He also highlighted Italy’s role as a pivotal region for receiving gas.

He explained that the company encompasses all types of energy, not just renewable energy. He also mentioned the trend of using hydrogen as a transitional fuel but noted that it is not a sufficient solution on its own.

The meeting was also attended by Magdy Galal, Chairman of Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and Alaa Hagar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for the Technical Office.
