The Sinai Peninsula is an important oil and gas region that contains essential oil and gas facilities and pipelines, the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, said, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

The minister’s comments were made during celebration of the 42nd anniversary of reclaiming the Sinai oil and gas fields.

Noting that production from the Zohr natural gas field is set to begin imminently, El Molla noted the challenges that Egypt has overcome to develop its natural gas sector.

The minister further noted that the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources plans launch a youth-training program in cooperation with a number of international companies.
