Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with Mathios Rigas, CEO of Energean.

The meeting discussed Energean’s plans to develop and increase natural gas production from its areas of operation in Egypt in the Mediterranean region during the coming period.

El Molla praised the existing cooperation with the company, which has achieved success, as it has great potential and seeks to pump new investments to maximize the exploitation of gas resources from the Mediterranean basin region, which is a major center for its operations.

For his part, Rigas highlighted the company’s interest in supporting its investment in natural gas production in Egypt and cooperating with the Egyptian petroleum sector in developing gas fields in the Mediterranean Sea in the regions of North Idku, North Amriya, and the Abu Qir region.

Rigas further highlighted the company’s focus on implementing its plan for research and exploration, noting that its production has reached 150 million cubic feet per day (mcf/d).
