Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla affirmed that Egypt is on the right track and lauded Egypt Mining Forum 2023 as a positive contribution to the achievements of the mining sector development strategy.

This came during a press conference at the conclusion of the activities of the first day of the forum.

El Molla also highlighted the presence of Egypt’s sectors that had a keen interest in the mining industry such as the Ministry of Environment as well as Ministty of Trade and Industry. This also includes the bodies concerned with procedures and facilitating mining works, such as Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority, which attended a roundtable that brought together investors; Petroleum & Mining Industries Chamber; and Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI).

The roundtable allowed having a clear and transparent dialogue that includes all parties in the industry, in which there can be deeper cooperation.

El Molla stated that the strategy for developing and maximizing the added value of mining wealth encompasses everything that would accelerate the achievement of its goals.

The momentum witnessed by this edition of the forum illustrates the growing interest in this promising sector, the minister noted.

El Molla explained that the world has a remarkable interest in mining, which is characterized by having important elements that serve the goals of the energy transition.

Egypt is at the forefront of countries interested in this and is very keen to maximize benefit from it, and now we are talking about actual partnerships with international companies, El Molla stated.

He added that Egypt is interested in the environmental aspect and digital transformation as part of its quest for green mining and its keenness to confront illegal and indiscriminate mining.
