El Molla, Perry Discuss US Investments in Egypt

Minister of Petroleum, Tarek El Molla, met with US’ Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry, to discuss US investments in the Egyptian oil and gas sector, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

During the meeting taking place on the sidelines of the CERAWeek in Houston, the two ministers reviewed Egypt’s strategy to become a regional energy hub.

El Molla and his American counterpart talked about ways of boosting cooperation in the oil and gas sector between Egypt and the US, as well as the possibilities of increasing American petroleum companies’ investments to provide operational and technical support to the Egyptian exploration and production (E&P) of unconventional oil and gas fields.

The US is keen to develop partnerships with Egypt in all fields and to boost cooperation in the oil and gas field, said Perry, adding that the US appreciates the role played by Egypt in developing natural gas resources in the East Mediterranean region.
