El Molla: MIDOR Refinery to Provide 3M Tons of High Quality Petroleum Products Annually

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has stated that the Middle East Refinery (MIDOR) expansion project is one of the major projects being implemented by the sector and will provide 3 million tons of high-quality petroleum products annually, including diesel, high-octane fuel, jet fuel, butane, and sulfur with costs of $2.7 billion.

The minister explained that during a tour visit by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to the project in Alexandria.

El Molla added that the total productivity of the project will reach 7.6 million tons per year after adding the new capacity.

Madbouly also received a briefing from Salah Gaber, the Chairman of Midor company, regarding the expansion phases of the company. Gaber explained that the project’s objective is to enhance petroleum production by increasing refining capacity from 100,000 to 160,000 barrels per day (bbl/d), aiming for a 60% increase.

Additionally, Gaber reviewed, in detail, the new facilities established in the project as well as the developed ones.

Madbouly underscored the significance of these expansion projects, emphasizing their economic impact in boosting local petroleum production and reducing the need for exports. He commended the project’s implementation for its high standard of quality.
