El Molla Met with Shell’s CEO

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, met with Shell International’s CEO, Andrew Brown, in the attendance of Shell Egypt’s CEO, Gasser Hanter, The Ministry released.

El Molla pointed out that Shell is one of the most strategic partners for the Egyptian oil and gas sector, adding that the company’s investments during the past years show its eagerness to work in the country.

The Minister added that the meeting is a strong push for the petroleum projects which are executed by Shell as the meeting discussed the company’s work in the Western Desert and the status of the drilling of the three new wells that were started early April. The meeting further reviewed the company’s exploration of deeper strata at Rosetta Concession.

El Molla further said that Shell won the recent tender launched by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) to search for oil and gas in North Um Baraka Concession in the Western Desert. Shell’s investments in the concession are estimated at $35.5m at least.

Meanwhile, Brown stated that Shell is working in Egypt for more than a century, adding that the company is always seeking to increase its exploration activities. It also seeks to develop and produce oil and gas from its concession areas and to use the latest technologies to magnify production rates.
