On the sidelines of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) 8th Ministerial Meeting, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with a US delegation to explore cooperation in oil, gas, and decarbonization.
The US delegation included Brad Crabtree, the Assistant Secretary for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM), as well as Joshua Volz, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe, Eurasia, Africa, and the Middle East at the U.S. Department of Energy, in addition to other US officials.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed how to boost US exploration and production (E&P) investments in the promising areas in Egypt. El Molla stressed Egypt’s interest to cooperate with the US in the decarbonization field and seeks to benefit from the new American technologies as well as expertise.
For his part, Crabtree expressed his country’s desire to cooperate with Egypt on this topic through its international initiative “Net Zero World Initiative” and its readiness to technically and technologically support Egypt and any country that participated in the initiative.
