El Molla Lays Foundation Stone of North Abu Qir for Agricultural Nutrients Company

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has laid the foundation stone for the establishment of North Abu Qir for Agricultural Nutrients Company, which is an ammonium nitrate fertilizer production project.

The minister also attended the foundation meeting of the company. He affirmed that this new project is a strong addition to Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company highlighting its importance to the national economy.

The new company’s shareholders include an interest of 45% for Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company, 45% for Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), and 10% for Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company (ECHEM). During the foundation meeting, the foundation procedures have been presented aiming to produce ammonia with a capacity of 1,200 tons daily, nitric with a capacity of 1,830 tons per day, and ammonia nitrate with a capacity of 2,400 tons daily.

Additionally, El Molla has inaugurated the zero liquid discharge (ZLD) unit which is one of the largest industrial wastewater treatment units. He listened to a presentation about its benefits and urged the commencement of procedures to launch the second ZLD unit.

 El Molla has also attended the meeting of the Board of Directors of Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company in which he reviewed its results for the last nine months as well as its new projects for upgrading, digitalization, and increasing production.

The minister also inspected the production control unit for Plant 3 of the Abu Qir Fertilizers Company after its development, using a smart system in cooperation with SAP Company using artificial intelligence (AI).

In the same context, El Molla has made an inspection tour to the first solar power station at Abu Qir Fertilizers with a capacity of 117 kilowatts to reduce the consumption of electricity which costs EGP 250,000 per year in addition to reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 175 tons per year.

Additionally, the minister praised the keenness of the company to use renewable energy as well as its pioneer social responsibility role in Alexandria and Behira. Moreover, the minister received the governorate’s shield as an honor for his efforts in the field of social responsibility.
