Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla made a follow-up tour and inspected the progress of work in the Western Desert Gas Complex Expansion Project (Train D).
The project is being implemented through the consortium of ENPPI and Petrojet.
It represents a model of integration between the petroleum sector companies. This comes as the project seeks to increase the production capacity of the complex to maximize the utilization of natural gas in the North Alexandria fields in the Mediterranean Sea, the Western Desert and any new discoveries in these areas.
It works by separating gas derivatives of high economic value, such as the ethane/propane mixture, which is the raw material for petrochemical factories in the Alexandria region, which include the companies SIDPEC and ETHYDCO.
The project further works on feeding the Egyptian Petrochemical Company through SIDPEC, which supports the national petrochemical industry and achieves an increase in the production of butane and condensates to contribute to meeting the local demand for these products. It further includes the production of commercial propane, which is exported to global markets.
