Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, made an inspection tour in Alexandria Petroleum Company (APC), Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC), and Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Company (ANRPC) to follow up on a number of refineries and petroleum projects that aim to increase production, according to a press release.
El Molla confirmed that the current development programs of the oil refineries meet the ministry’s vision 2023 to achieve self-sufficiency of petroleum products. El Molla also underlined the necessity to implement the procedures of health, safety, and environment (HSE) to protect the work environment, personnel and equipment.
During the tour, El Molla held a meeting to review plans for modernizing APC’s refinery. Mohamed Sobhy, Chairman of APC, meanwhile presented a new project to establish an air distillation unit to increase the refinery’s capacity and provide petroleum products of high quality. Other projects of solar treatment unit with hydrogen, and storage capacity increase in production units and warehouses were also demonstrated.
El Molla also reviewed the development of the oil basin berths in Alexandria port, including the rehabilitation of one and two berths and raising their efficiency. Additionally, El Molla held a meeting with the chairmen of Midor, AMOC, ANRPC, APC, and Amreya Petroleum Refining Company (APRC) to follow up on the expansion plan to raise the efficiency of the oil refineries in Alexandria.
