During his participation in a round table for business leaders in Washington, Minister of petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, showcased the latest updates of the regional cooperation in natural gas highlighting the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) contributions, according to a press release.
The round table was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and was attended by the US Secretary of Energy, Dan Brouillette, the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Francis Fannon, the Israeli Minister of Energy, Yuval Steinitz, the Cyprus’s Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Stelios Himonas, the Italian Ambassador in US, Armando Varricchio, the Under Secretary at the Egyptian Ministry of petroleum and Mineral Resources, Osama Mobarez and Senior Vice President at US Chamber of Commerce, Khus Choksy in addition to officials and leaders of the American Chamber of Commerce in US.
El Molla emphasized the role of EMGF, which became an international Organization based in Cairo, in enhancing the economic relations and commercial links related to natural gas between the region’s countries.
Additionally, he noted that countries has already began to exploit their opportunities to achieve mutual benefits under this umbrella, pointing out that the forum represents a successful model to benefit from energy in achieving peace in the region.
The meeting also witnessed discussions related to the consultant committee for natural gas industry which was established to act as a permanent discussion platform inside EMGF.
