El Molla Follows Up on Refining, Petrochemical Projects

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla chaired a meeting to review the latest developments of new refining and petrochemical projects, including the expansion of Alexandria’s Middle East Oil Refinery (MIDOR), the production of wooden panels from rice straw by Wood Technology Co. (WOTECH) in Idku in Beheira Governorate, and a petrochemical complex project in the economic zone in Suez.

During the meeting, El Molla pointed out the importance of adhering to the specific timetables for the implementation of new projects and studying all the challenges facing their implementation. This includes working to develop appropriate solutions to confront them through full coordination between the companies implementing these projects to intensify the volume of work with a commitment to follow occupational safety and health procedures.

El Molla emphasized that it is vital to periodically follow up on the progress of new projects, especially since refining and petrochemical projects help achieve added value in Egypt’s oil wealth. It also helps boost the production of high-value products to meet the needs of the local market while increasing exports.

The meeting witnessed presentations by the heads of MIDOR, Wood Technology Co. (WOTECH), and the Red Sea National Petrochemicals Company to give updates on their projects.
