El Molla Follows Up on EGYPS 2022 Preparations

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla chaired the second meeting of the Supreme Executive Committee of the Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2022) to follow up on the final preparations for the fifth edition of the exhibition.

It will be held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi during the period from 14-16 February 2022, under the slogan “North Africa and the Mediterranean: Delivering Energy Today”.

The meeting was attended by members of the executive committee, which included heads of local and international oil companies sponsoring the conference and representatives of dmg events, the company which organizes the exhibition.

During the meeting, El Molla stated that the success of the past editions of the conference and the increasing global interest in its activities year after year is a joint success for the petroleum sector and its partners in light of a system of cooperation and integration between all parties in Egypt’s petroleum industry.

This year’s exhibition will witness the participation of more than 40 local and international companies, and several international pavilions, El Molla noted. He added it will witness the participation of government officials from several countries, important international petroleum organizations and institutions, and will include new topics of interest to the global petroleum industry, especially in light of the ongoing preparations for COP 27.

The minister stressed the commitment to implement all precautionary measures to confront the COVID-19 pandemic during the conference activities.

Meanwhile, Christopher Hudson, President of dmg events, confirmed that the current session of the conference comes at an important time in the global oil and gas industry in light of its gradual recovery from the effects of the corona pandemic, market reshaping processes and plans to move towards green energies. The conference will include a strategic dialogue in the fields of energy and will address many points of interest to the global petroleum industry, he added.

Hudson indicated that the final preparations for the exhibition are being finalized for exhibitors wishing to participate in the development of the energy sector in the region.

This year’s conference will witness the participation of the secretaries-general of the Organizations of OPEC and OAPEC, the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), the Union for the Mediterranean, African Petroleum Producers, the World Energy Forum, the Energy Observatory for the Mediterranean, in addition to the ministers of petroleum and energy in Jordan, Djibouti, Yemen, Iraq, Palestine, Israel, Cyprus, Senegal, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and a large number of heads of international and local oil companies.

In a press conference after the meeting, El Molla pointed out the keenness to organize the fifth edition of EGYPS with greater success than the previous exhibition, which was organized in February 2020 in light of the support given by President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to the show.

The presidential support extends to the Egyptian petroleum industry, which has achieved success stories that confirmed it as an active element in the general growth and economic development achieved in Egypt.
