Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has chaired a meeting of the Higher Committee for Petroleum Projects to review the progress of a number of new refining and petrochemical projects.
They reviewed projects including MIDOR’s refinery expansion project, the coking and diesel complex at the refinery of Suez Oil Processing Company (SOPC), and the MDF production complex of Wotech.
During the meeting, El Molla stressed the importance of committing to the set timeline for implementing these new projects and studying all challenges that may face the execution process, especially in the light of current challenges which affect most global economies.
He also highlighted the necessity of working together through coordination between the companies which implement these projects to accelerate their completion. He added that they will have a great impact in meeting the needs of the local market for petroleum and petrochemical products, in addition to reducing the quantities of imports, increasing exports, and supporting the national economy.
The minister also stressed the importance of implementing the new projects according to the highest quality standards by using advanced technologies, while upholding occupational safety and commitments to health procedures.
In this regard, El Molla encouraged the careful selection of cadres working in these important fields, while emphasizing the importance of investing in their professional development to uphold safety in the field, while taking measures to preserve the environment.
