Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with Herro Mustafa Garg, US Ambassador to Egypt, who recently assumed her duties.
The meeting discussed ways to deepen cooperation between the two sides in the fields of oil, gas, hydrogen, and emissions reduction.
During the meeting, El Molla stated that the US is a strategic partner for Egypt in many fields, especially in the field of oil and gas. He added that American oil companies have been working in Egypt for decades and have contributed to achieving many successes in recent years.
El Molla said that the petroleum sector is currently intensifying research and exploration for oil and gas in partnership with foreign companies operating in Egypt to achieve more discoveries to provide the energy necessary for economic development.
The minister added that Egypt is currently working to diversify its energy mix and increase the contribution of new and renewable energies, especially sun, wind, and low-carbon hydrogen, in parallel with providing the daily basic needs necessary for development operations.
El Molla pointed to the growing role of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum as a regional platform calling for cooperation and integration in the field of natural gas.
Meanwhile, Garg highlighted the important role that Egypt plays in the region, especially as an important regional energy hub through its pivotal geographical location and its distinguished capabilities in infrastructure. She highlighted the importance of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) as a global platform that attracts the attention of American companies because of what it provides as a business environment and exchange of expertise. This is especially the case after expanding the fair to include all types of energy, which in turn expands the horizons of business performance and investments.
