El Molla, CyPlus GmbH Explore Cooperation Opportunities in Mining Industry

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with Stefan Welbers, Managing Director of the German company CyPlus GmbH and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting reviewed the investment opportunities available to the company in Egypt in the field of mining and its related industries. This was in light of the company’s desire to establish a factory for the production of sodium cyanide, which is used in processing and extracting gold from rocks.

During the meeting, El Molla stated that there is a need to localize industries for products complementary to mining activity.

El Molla said that a feasibility study is underway for establishing such factories, which will provide products used in mining activity, which will achieve a large amount of foreign exchange used in importing such products.

The strategy of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to develop the mining sector attaches utmost importance to implementing the requirements of green mining, adhering to the environmental compatibility of mining activities and reducing emissions by benefiting from world-leading companies in this field that possess advanced expertise and technologies, the minister noted.

For his part, Welbers confirmed that it is one of the world’s leading companies in the field of cyanide and provides advanced technological services and seeks to present itself as a provider of innovative solutions.

Welbers stated that the company provides safe and responsible uses of cyanide, starting from production, passing through transportation and circulation processes, and even application and exchange, and dedicates its capabilities to providing new solutions that focus on boosting productivity and the possibility of developing the gold mining processing process in an innovative way.

Moreover, Welbers praised the great development witnessed by the mining field in Egypt, which attracted various companies to work and invest in the field of mineral wealth in Egypt.
