El Molla Chairs Meeting of the Higher Committee for Social Responsibility

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for the implementation of the petroleum sector’s social responsibility strategy to review their plan for the year 2023.

During the meeting, El Molla outlined that the committee’s aim is to work to support the contributions of the petroleum and mining sector in improving the quality of life for all Egyptians.

He added that the work of the committee is to establish a general regulatory framework and an integrated entity that brings together the efforts of the oil sector companies to achieve optimal benefit from community participation.

He pointed out that achieving the concept of development adopted by the Egyptian petroleum sector strategy for social responsibility should happen on three development dimensions, economic, social, and environmental. These efforts will help achieve the principles and goals of sustainable development agreed upon in all fields through the annual work plan.

The minister added that work is currently underway to determine implementation priorities for the proposed projects for the Egyptian oil sector, in cooperation with the sector’s partners from the oil companies.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of the projects that will be implemented during the current year and the projects that are being implemented and planned for implementation during the coming period in many fields. The most important initiatives will be in areas of health, education, training, economic development, and environmental protection projects. This is in addition to participating in presidential initiatives such as the Haya Karima (‘Decent Life’) initiative and other vital areas that fundamentally affect the living standards of average citizens.
