Officials at Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources met Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati and discussed means of cementing bilateral ties in the field of natural gas. Al-Ahram reported.
The high-profile meeting came on the sideline of the World Energy Congress (WEC) held in Abu Dhabi. The Jordanian official emphasized the importance of cooperation, given natural oil sector in Egypt has witnessed a major progress in the past two years.
Jordan, according to Zawati at the WEC, has set a model in establishing renewable energy stations in collaboration with the private sector. The growth rate in generating electricity from renewable resources increased from 2% to 13%, and Jordan is seeking to raise this ratio to 20% by 2020.
