Egypt, US Hold Energy Transition, Emissions Reduction Discussions on EMGF meeting sidelines

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla held talks with a high-level delegation from the US Department of Energy headed by Joshua Volz, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe, Eurasia, Africa, and the Middle East, to discuss ways of boosting energy transition and carbon emission reduction.

On the sidelines of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum’s (EMGF) ministerial meeting, they also discussed cooperation opportunities with the US. For his part, El Molla reaffirmed that Egypt is interested in moving forward in cooperating with international companies in executing projects for clean fuel production.

Moreover, the two sides reviewed decarbonization and emissions reduction initiatives that were launched by the EMGF.
