The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, met with the United Kingdom’s Trade Envoy, Jeffrey Donaldson, to discuss investment options in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, Egypt Oil and Gas reports.
They discussed previous energy-sector cooperation between the two countries and possibilities to build upon this cooperation. In particular, they reviewed the mega gas projects in which British companies have invested, including the North Alexandria and Mediterranean deepwater exploration projects.
The positive results of British investments in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, El Molla noted, should encourage additional investments. He went on to say that Egypt is committed to fostering an investment-friendly environment for its partners.
Donaldson, for his part, praised the economic reforms implemented by the Egyptian government, which, he believes, will play an important role in determining future investments. He also spoke positively about Egypt’s efforts to become a regional energy-trading hub.
The British Ambassador, John Casson, also participated in the meeting.
