Egypt to Restructure Ministry of Petroleum

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, stated that programs are ongoing to upgrade skills of personnel as part of plans to restructure the Ministry. The plans are executed in cooperation with world renowned consulting companies, reported Al Mal News.

El Molla comments came during the American Chamber of Commerce’s meeting. The minister said, “Restructuring the ministry leads to improving the investment climate, which has been battered owing to the Ministry taking charge of both production and management.”

El Molla pointed out that Bill regulating gas exploration in the country is being discussed in the House of Representatives, as it will soon be reviewed in the general session after subcommittees have finalized their own deliberations.

Accordingly, the Ministry’s press release announced that El Molla, futher said during the meeting that the currently implemented petroleum strategy is based on a new vision to cooperate with foreign partners and share benefits, mentioning the success achieved in Zohr Field.
