The Egyptian government with the support of Ministry of Petroleum is aiming to connect all eligible households to national natural gas grid within the upcoming two years maximum, said Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla , according to Amwal Al Ghad.

Subsidizing fossil fuels does not reach its true beneficiaries, yet the ministry is working on solving this issue, El Molla said, adding that lifting subsidies from some fossil fuels helped in providing better services in other important sectors like education, health and transportation.

Moreover, lifting subsidies led to rationalizing consumption which represents a good framework that we need to follow, El Molla added.
