Egypt Taps Baker Hughes’ Technology to boost Mineral Wealth

The Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority discussed ways of cooperation and strategic partnership with Baker Hughes, one of the largest companies specializing in energy technologies. The goal is to develop Egypt’s mining and mineral resources sector by integrating modern technologies and sustainable practices. These discussions, which aims to maximize the added value of the country’s mineral wealth, was discussed during a meeting at the Authority’s headquarters.

The meeting, led by Authority Chairman Yasser Ramadan and Baker Hughes Country Director Amro Ismail Elsharkawi, focused on mechanisms to strengthen cooperation in integrating modern technologies in the sector, in a way that aligns with Egypt’s digital transformation strategy. Ramadan highlighted the Authority’s commitment to innovation and international partnerships, expressing eagerness to “benefit from Baker Hughes’ global expertise and cutting-edge technology to unlock the full potential of (Egypt’s) mineral resources”.

For its part, Baker Hughes presented its leading solutions for the mining industry and expressed its ambition to establish Egypt as a regional hub for testing and applying these innovations. The company, which has a 100-year legacy of solving complex energy challenges, aims to use its experience to drive progress in Egypt and expand into North African markets.

Baker Hughes’ commitment to innovation marks a significant step toward modernizing Egypt’s mining industry through strategic international partnerships and technological advancement.
