Egypt Signs Agreement with Scatec for Green Ammonia Production

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla along with the Norway’s Ambassador to Egypt Hilde Klemetsdal has witnessed the signing of a joint agreement between Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) and Scatec for the production of green ammonia from green hydrogen.

The minister said that this agreement affirms the state’s commitment to make international agreements that seek to mitigate the effects of climate change and comes within the framework of efforts to expand green projects in order to achieve economic sustainability.

El Molla added that the agreement is in line with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ vision for energy transition and follows policies to gradually reduce emissions. He added that it also supports Egypt’s ambitions to become a regional energy hub.

Scatec is a leading company in the field of green energy solutions and has the expertise needed to build the new integrated complex for green ammonia production which will secure local needs and increase exports.
