Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has held a meeting with Russian Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Algeria, during which they discussed means to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy.

The meeting reviewed efforts of both sides in securing energy sources along with efforts to reduce emissions and remove carbon from natural gas, emphasizing the crucial role of natural gas as a transitional fuel in the global energy mix.

During the meeting, El Molla highlighted Egypt’s participation in BRICS, which aims to strengthen cooperation and trade relations between Egypt and Russia. He also expressed support for Russia’s proposed priorities for energy cooperation within the BRICS countries, particularly in regards to energy transition, energy security, and the initiative to reduce methane emissions.
