The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy received the Emirates Energy Award 2017 from the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy in recognition of the ministry’s achievements in the field of energy efficiency, Amwal Al Ghad reported.
The First Undersecretary for Research, Planning, and Authorities, Mohamed Omran, received the award during a ceremony highlighting ‘Innovative Solutions for Clean Energy’ in Dubai.
The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy organizes the Emirates Energy Award to encourage rational energy usage. The award aims to highlight best practices in energy efficiency, sustainability, and alternative energy, according to Gulf News.
The event was supported by Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
Noting that the council had received 210 award submissions, the Vice Chairman of the Council, Saeed Mohamed Al Tayer, stated, “[t]his year’s edition has attracted wide participation from countries across the Middle East and North Africa, and European, American and Scandinavian countries.”
