Egypt Pumps Gas to Ismailia

In a press release to Egypt Oil&Gas, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, stated that the ministry initiated a project to pump natural gas to Qantara city in West Ismailia as a part of its plan to transport gas to 2000 residential dwellings by the end of 2017. This comes along with the country’s celebrations for the anniversary of the 6th of October victories.

The ministry is preparing to deliver gas in the Sinai Region in Taba, Nuweiba, Dahab, and Bear El Abd after successfully delivering gas to 22,500 households, 100 touristic building, and 20 commercial buildings in Sharm El Shikh, Areesh, Qantara East, and Ismailia.

In alignment with the Egyptian government’s vision to enhance citizen services, the ministry has delivered gas to several regions in Upper Egypt, Cairo, Canal cities and Mediterranean cities in the last two years, with the aim of elevating living standards for residents of those cities. Accordingly, natural gas is delivered to 7.6m households in 26 governorates. In addition, Egypt prioritizes delivering natural gas to high population density cities in order to decrease the usage of butane, together with related subsidies and importation costs.
