Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat have met with the Saudi Minister of Energy Abdulaziz bin Salman at the Saudi Ministry of Energy headquarters for bilateral energy cooperation.
During the meeting, Badawi affirmed the deep partnership between the two countries which extends for decades in different fields, especially the energy sector.
The parties showcased the energy strategies of both countries, which focused on diversifying the energy mix and overcoming challenges faced by the sector within the framework of securing sustainable energy sources at reasonable prices.
He stressed that his ministry’s priority is to increase production and accelerate upstream operations, in addition to using the available capacities in the refineries and petrochemical industries.
Badawi highlighted the necessity of boosting the cooperation between the two countries.
Also, the parties agreed on the importance of forming plans include solutions built upon economic principles to guarantee the sustainability with continuing investment in human capital to build capabilities and develop young talents, as well as empower women.
They agreed on the need to optimize the exploitation of petroleum products in an environmentally responsible manner while expanding the application of carbon emissions reduction initiatives using the latest technologies and innovations.
The two sides agreed to form a task force that will on key areas of bilateral cooperation.
