An official from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has said that the country supports further cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
Yuko Tamai, director of the Office for Promotion of International Project, Infrastructure System and Water Industry in METI’s Manufacturing Industries Bureau, said that Egypt’s sustainable development projects in the oil and gas sector are fundamental pillars in achieving economic growth.
Tamai praised the ongoing and planned work programs for the expansion of the refining, petrochemical and infrastructure industries and their role in maximizing the added value of natural resources for the economy. She further stressed Japan is open to partnering with the Egyptian petroleum sector in these key areas and that the country can provide the necessary expertise and technological support.
This came during Tamai’s meeting with Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, to discuss the opportunities available for Japanese firms to invest in the Egyptian oil and gas sector.
