Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has met with the Italian Ambassadors to Egypt Michele Quaroni discussing the available opportunities to increase cooperation between the petroleum sector and the companies of mining and energy.
Badawi highlighted the depth of the relationship between the two countries which can led to more cooperation in the fields of energy and mining.
He appreciated the distinguished role of Italian companies, most notably Eni, with whom the petroleum sector has a strong strategic partnership, in addition to Technip Energies and Saipem.
He also affirmed Egypt’s support to developing and increasing cooperation with Italian companies in energy production and the development of Egypt’s oil and natural gas resources.
The minister stressed the commitment of the petroleum sector to overcome challenges and support investment that can be built upon to increase investments of the Italian companies, pointing to the available opportunities to increase cooperation in the fields of petrochemicals, green energy and mining.
For his part, Quaroni said the partnership with Egypt is a priority for Italy in the African continent. Additionally, the Italian Ambassador expressed his country’s interest in cooperating with Egypt in the field of mining industry and exploring opportunities to pump investments into mining raw material manufacturing projects to maximize their added value.
The meeting also reviewed the steps currently being taken by the petroleum sector to prepare for the establishment of a project to produce green and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from used cooking oil , within the framework of its green projects strategy.
