Egypt, Italy Deepen Energy, Mining Ties

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, who is currently visiting Cairo at the head of a large delegation of leaders of Italian institutions, organizations and companies.

During the meeting, discussions revolved around opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of oil and gas, mining, critical minerals, as well as new and renewable energy, alongside manufacturing associated with these sectors.

El Molla highlighted the strong ties between the two countries and their peoples, especially in the field of energy, oil and gas since 1957. He stated that Egypt looks forward to more partnership between Egyptian and Italian companies in light of the distinguished relations and ease of dealing and cooperation between the two sides.

For his part, Urso highlighted the strength of the strategic and historical relations between the two countries and that the Egyptian-Italian partnership is evidence of its strength. This is embodied in the successive visits made by the Italian Prime Minister, the last of which was a month ago to confirm the strategy of the relationship between Egypt, Italy and Europe.

Urso stated that the Mattei Plan for Africa considers Egypt a priority partner and a pivotal country in it.

Furthermore, Urso highlighted three areas of collaboration, encompassing the traditional domain of oil and gas, where Eni plays a pivotal role. He added that two emerging sectors of cooperation are the green technology industry and digitalization.
