Egypt Invests EGP 483B in Electricity Grid

Egypt has recently invested EGP 483 billion in projects to develop its national electricity grid, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, said on Wednesday, Amwal Al Ghad reports.

Over the past three years, he added, Egypt has invested significantly in its electricity sector to prevent shortages, Shaker noted, adding that this amount does not include funds spent on the nuclear power plant project.

In early September, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) was negotiating a $100 million loan for the importation of spare parts for its electricity distribution grid, Al Mal News reported at the time.
