Egypt Invests $20b in VRU for Naphtha and Butane

The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, stated that the country is constructing a new Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) worth $ 20b within Assiut Refinery, to cover domestic demands of petroleum derivatives, especially naphtha and butane gas, as it will provide the market with 356,000 tons of naphtha and around 42,000 tons of butane annually, reported Amwal Al Ghad.

El Molla added that Egypt’s oil and gas sector is expanding with several national projects that aim to increase oil and gas growth rate by the end of fiscal year 2016/2017.

The ministry has plans to build new refineries and improve existing facilities to enhance petroleum production and alleviate the nation’s dependency of oil and gas imports.
