Egypt is implementing a butane storage project in Suhag with storage capacity 6,000 tons of butane, which is equivalent to 600,000 butane cylinders, Head of Petroleum Gas Company (Petrogas), Adel Al Shuwaikh, stated, adding that the project includes 4 spherical storage warehouses to boost butane storage capacity, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The project will help turn Suhag into a butane supply area to provide demands of Upper Egypt. Egypt has butane filling warehouses across Suhag, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan, which will contribute in decreasing butane transportation process and decrease pressure on roads, El Shuiekh pointed out.
This came during the visit of Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, to Suhag to follow up on infrastructure, butane storage, and transportation projects in the Egyptian Governorate.
Additionally, Asyut-Suhag 117 km long, 10-diameter pipeline has been completed to transport butane and to support the national grid in moving petroleum products, Petroleum Pipelines Company (PPC)’s Head, Abdel Meneim Hafez, stated, adding that the new pipeline is safe and economic for transporting butane from Asyut refinery to Suhag, which will lead to saving EGP 26 million from transportation costs.
