Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, met with Ditte Juul-Joergenses, Director of Energy of the European Commission, on the sidelines of the CERAWeek, the ministry said in a statement.
During the meeting, El Molla reviewed the Egyptian efforts on the regional and local levels to increase natural gas exports to the European Union (EU), referring to the common desire to increase cooperation in the field of energy transition and climate change. El Molla also reviewed a number of initiatives that are going to be presented at the upcoming COP28 climate summit in the UAE.
El Molla expressed Egypt’s desire to work towards developing an integrated transformation plan, in addition to working on various initiatives with the support of the European Union to present it during that summit.
For her part, Juul-Joergenses congratulated El Molla on the success of the COP 27 Climate Summit, which Egypt hosted last November, appreciating the fruitful cooperation between the EU and Egypt in a number of energy fields, expressing the EU’s aspiration for more aspects of support and joint cooperation in carbon reduction projects.
