On the sidelines of the Egypt Mining Forum 2023, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with Yonis Ali Guedi, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources at the Republic of Djibouti.

The meeting discussed ways to support and increase joint cooperation in petroleum and mining activities in a way that achieves common interests of the two brotherly countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, El Molla thanked the Djiboutian minister for accepting the invitation and participating in the forum.

El Molla indicated there are preparations for the signing of a new memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the field of capacity building.

For his part, Guedi thanked El Molla for his hospitality, conveying the Djiboutian President’s gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for Egypt’s continuous support to his country.

Guedi stated that the mining sector in Egypt has witnessed extraordinary development during the last period. He added that his country is looking forward to benefiting from Egyptian expertise, whether in the petroleum industry or the mining industry.

At the end of the meeting, Guedi invited El Molla to visit Djibouti to explore further bilateral cooperation opportunities during the coming period.
