Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla and CEO of SLB Olivier Le Peuch have held a meeting on the sidelines of COP 28 in the UAE, which focused on climate change and sustainable energy solutions.
During the meeting, El Molla expressed his appreciation for SLB’s support for various initiatives in the Egyptian oil and gas sector including the program for qualifying young and intermediate leaders, the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG), and decarbonization projects.
El Molla also emphasized the importance of cooperation between SLB, the global technology company, and the petroleum sector in the field of measuring and reducing methane gas emissions.
The Egyptian minister praised the study conducted by SLB in cooperation with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and Shell for carbon capture and storage in the offshore Nile Delta concession area.
El Molla invited the Le Peuch to participate in the session to be organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources on carbon removal strategies as part of the Energy Day activities tomorrow.
Carbon removal is a fundamental pillar of the ministry’s strategy, and the Minister believes that SLB’s expertise and experience will be valuable in this discussion.
