The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources declined spreading news quoting the Minister of Petroleum, Tarek El Molla, saying that Zohr will start producing at 1 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas within days, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The ministry highlighted that Zohr field’s production in the first phase, which will start before the end of 2017, will reach 350 million standard cubic feet per day (mscf/d) of natural gas, which will increase gradually to reach 1 bcf/d by mid-2018 and to reach 2.7 bcf/d by the end of 2019, as the projects development phases are complete.
Working at Zohr field project is going on a quick pace to be finalized on a perfect timing, compared to similar discoveries across the world. The project comes in line with the ministry’s plan to secure energy local demands of all economic sectors, and to boost the added value, in addition to turning Egypt into an energy trade regional hub, as Egypt has the perfect potential of infrastructure and geography.
