Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Egypt Ivan Jukl to discuss possibility of cooperation in several fields including mining, green hydrogen, sustainable energies and training cadres for developing their skills, in addition to the preparation for the signing of an Egyptian-Czech memorandum of understanding (MoU).
At the beginning, Jukl affirmed the importance of cooperating with Egypt especially in mining and energy in light of the visit of the President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Czech to get into high level economic talks.
He added that the Czech Republic witnessed major development at all levels and has expertise and advanced technologies in mining and energy through which it seeks to boost cooperation with Egypt during the coming period.
Additionally, the ambassador elaborated that there are several Czech institutions and universities that have offered cooperation opportunities with Egypt in mining technologies and hydrogen technologies especially green hydrogen as well as providing training programs in mining, decarbonization technologies and carbon emissions reduction.
For his part, El Molla welcomed the Czech Republic’s desire to strengthen cooperation, stressing on the importance of building on that through hastening preparations to sign the MoU and benefit from the expertise of companies and universities while developing Egyptian cadres.
In this regard, the two parties agreed to revive bilateral talks again to sign the MoU, resuming what was done previously by the end of 2021. The two sides also affirmed that the cooperation should involve oil and gas decarbonization in light of the petroleum sector’s keenness to collaborate with Europe in these fields.
