Egyptian petroleum minister Tarek El Molla has signed the agreement for the establishment of the subsea natural gas pipeline between Egypt and Cyrpus’s Aphrodite field with Cypriot Minister of Energy Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The pipeline will transport natural gas from the Aphrodite field to Egypt’s gas liquefaction plants. It will then be re-exported in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to different markets, the Egyptian petroleum ministry announced in a press release.
The pipeline will enable Egypt to export gas to the European Union (EU), El Molla stated.
