Egypt, Chevron Discuss Cooperation for Accelerating Gas Production, Development in East Med

On the second day of Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2024), Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has held a session of discussions with Clay Neff, President of Chevron International Exploration & Production, and his accompanying delegation.

The discussions dealt with enhancing aspects of cooperation between the two sides, especially in the field of natural gas production and optimal exploitation of the facilities available in the Eastern Mediterranean region to accelerate the development of gas fields.

El Molla stressed the importance of joint cooperation between the two sides and the keenness to strengthen and increase the bonds of this cooperation, pointing out that the two sides are working to accelerate the development of the Nargis offshore field and increase their cooperation with regard to receiving and exporting Eastern Mediterranean gas.

For his part, Neff expressed his delight at participating in the exhibition and conference and the fruitful cooperation between the two sides, and Chevron’s keenness to accelerate seismic survey operations and development stages.

He explained that Chevron conducted a study that showed that exporting Eastern Mediterranean gas through Egypt is a more suitable option.

The meeting was attended by Magdy Galal, Chairman of Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and Alaa Hagar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for the Technical Office.
