Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi participated in the Hamburg Sustainability Conference titled “Bringing the World Together for New Sustainability Alliances”.
Badawi attended a number of sessions, on top of which the session entitled ‘Together for Transformation-Multilateral Development Banks Strengthening’.
Moreover, the minister met several ministers including Anne Beathe, Minister of International Development in Norway; Pralhad Joshi, Minister of renewables in India; and Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator.
The conference brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including heads of state, government leaders, ministers, representatives from international and financial institutions, and sustainability experts. The goal was to foster collaboration and collective action to address the challenges hindering the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants discussed strategies for achieving a secure energy transition while ensuring affordable energy access, particularly in developing countries.
The conference is taking place on 7-8 October 2024, and it is organized by a joint initiative of the United Nations Developmental Program (UNDP), the German Federal Government (BMZ), the Michael Otto Foundation and the City of Hamburg.
