Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla has met with Hailiang Song, China Energy Engineering Corporation’s (CEEC) Chairman, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting reviewed opportunities for cooperation in the fields of petrochemicals, green hydrogen, ammonia, energy transformation technologies, and emissions reduction.
During the meeting, El Molla confirmed that Egypt has already begun to take serious steps to implement green projects in many fields and that the petroleum sector is currently implementing several initiatives to reduce emissions at various work sites in cooperation with its foreign partners.
The minister added that the Chinese corporation possesses advanced technologies and technical and financing capabilities, especially in the fields of green energy, and is considered the largest Chinese corporation investing in Egypt.
El Molla invited the delegation of the Chinese corporation to attend and participate in the Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition (EGYPES) in its next edition, which will be held in February 2024.
For his part, Song stated that cooperation with Egypt in many fields is one of its most important priorities and that it looks forward to cooperating with the Egyptian petroleum sector in important projects for green energies, especially in the field of hydrogen.
Song extended an invitation to El Molla to visit China and tour the various projects of the Chinese institution.
CEEC entered the Egyptian market in 2009 and seeks to expand its business portfolio in Egypt with the aim of meeting the growing global demand for hydrogen and providing technological solutions for energy transformation, reducing emissions, and petrochemicals, Song noted.
