As part of an effort to improve best practices in health, safety and environment (HSE), the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) has announced the launch of four seminars under the title of “Secured Driving and Road Safety” in cooperation with the Petroleum Safety and Environmental Services Company (PetroSafe).
One seminar will be given each week to raise the levels of HSE awareness among the EGPC’s employees.
During the first seminar, Tamer Aieysh, the Chairman Assistant for HSE at EGPC, stressed the importance of raising awareness among the employees and increasing their culture towards safe driving, pointing out the keenness of EGPC in cooperation with PetroSafe, to organize such seminars to reduce risks and safeguard the lives of employees and their families. He noted that the EGPC is in the process of organizing such seminars for its affiliated companies during the coming period to achieve the greatest level of awareness among employees in the sector.
Naier Nour El-Din, former Assistant Chairman of HSE at EGAS and lecturer at PetroSafe, gave a brief explanation about safety guidelines to ensure all driving activities are free of hazards and accidents.
He also reviewed a number of real situations in which driving instructions and guidelines were not followed, leading to accidents. Awareness videos were also shown on safe driving and ways to deal with dangerous situations and avoid the mistakes of others while driving
As a form of interaction, a discussion was opened, and the participants’ inquiries were answered regarding the rules of driving and not violating them in some situations that they are exposed to while driving. The participants praised the importance of the seminar and the information they benefited from.
