The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) plans to deliver natural gas to between 500,000 and 700,000 households within the second half of fiscal year 2016/2017, reported Al Mal News.

Sources with EGAS added that the cost of pumping gas for a household ranges between EGP 3000 and EGP 4000. EGAS is working according to a plan to deliver gas to around 800,000 households during fiscal year 2016/2017.

During 2016, EGAS successfully pumped gas to several cities in Upper Egypt including Dairut in Asiut, Al Fashn in Beni Suef, Tama in Suhag, as well as Matay in Minya. Additionally, Egypt pumped gas to East of Luxur, Edco in Behira, as well as Al Qantara City in Ismailia.

EGAS is depending on public sector companies as Egypt Gas, Town Gas, National Gas (Natgas), Ribco Gas Damietta, Wadi El Nile, Cairo Gas, Trans Gas, Overseas gas, Maya Gas, Fayoum Gas, and Sinai Gas as well as Sianco to execute the gas pumping strategy.

The Egyptian oil and gas sector aimed to deliver gas to a total of 2.4m households within the period from June 2016 to June 2018.
