The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) received EGP 6.1 billion of its arrears from authorities and governmental institutions in February, a source at the Ministry of Electricity told Al Borsa Newspaper.
Total arrears received from the Ministry of Endowments reached EGP 351 million, however, the ministry still owes the electricity sector around EGP 2.3 billion, the source noted.
EEHC also received a total of EGP 2.5 billion from the potable water and sanitation sector, reducing the total debt amount to EGP 10.5 billion.
Other governmental authorities paid EGP 3.3 billion until February, thus reducing their payables to EEHC to around EGP 22 billion.
