The Chairman of the Egyptian Drilling Company (EDC), Osama Kamel, revealed that the company drilled 200 new wells and repaired over 600 in 2024. Showcasing the company’s performance, Kamel noted that it also added two new rigs to its fleet, equipped with the latest technologies in drilling and safety. This was reported during the company’s general assembly meeting, headed by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi.

On the expansion front, EDC has taken serious steps to grow its business outside Egypt, targeting new markets such as India, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Turkey, Algeria, West Africa, Brazil, and Thailand. Kamel also highlighted the outstanding performance of the Drilling and Petroleum Services Company, a subsidiary of EDC in Saudi Arabia.

The EDC 45 onshore drilling rig won an Aramco Excellence Award in 2024, reflecting the notable performance of Egyptian drilling rigs among Saudi Aramco’s rigs. Furthermore, according to Aramco’s reports, EDC achieved an average of 97.2% in the Rig Performance Efficiency Index over the past three years.

In terms of financial results, the company’s revenues in 2024 amounted to approximately $406 million.

Moreover, within its dedication to continuously developing employee skills and capabilities, EDC offered training and qualification programs throughout the year for fresh graduate engineers to ensure the continued availability of qualified talent.

During the meeting, Badawi underscored the company’s numerous achievements in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, highlighting the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’s (MoPMR) support to EDC’s plan for expansion abroad.
